ABOUT ALICE

Alice Silverman, President and founder of Creative Interiors, has decorated and designed inspired residential & commercial environments for more than 35 years. Her fond childhood memories of weekly visits to the Met with her Aunt and Uncle - of which, the Marie Antoinette Room was always a highlight – provides us with a hint that being a designer ran through her veins at an early age. Alice’s true calling was also demonstrated when a high school teacher called her a “sybarite”. When Alice didn’t know what that meant, the teacher made Alice write a paragraph on the definition and how there might be a relation with this word and her obvious penchant for the finer things.

Apparently that teacher was on to something, but Alice’s devotion to making things beautiful was not an early career choice. Prior to becoming the decorating diva she is today, Alice was a schoolteacher and full time Mom. It wasn’t until 1972, when a real-estate agent friend asked Alice to work on a condo-model decoration project that Alice tapped into her true potential. She wowed the developers by using mirrors to maximize the space and reflect a crystal chandelier endlessly – and with that first job and only a $3k budget, Alice’s design career was born.

Alice is a good communicator, flexible in her approach and has a great sense of taste and style – her experience, and therefore knowledge of the marketplace and resources, are enviable. Alice is a timeless designer who approaches each project with a fresh perspective while drawing from a culmination of her life experience and creative interests, which include travel, jewelry making and collecting, cooking, baking, entertaining, visiting museums, theater, and antiquing.

Not that she has a lot of down time, but when those rare moments appear open in her calendar, Alice also enjoys being a Grandmother, Mother of two very successful (not to mention handsome) grown sons and a wonderful, devoted friend to many.
